Inspiration

Coming from a mechanical engineering background, I noticed that rural patients struggle to consult city doctors due to travel barriers. Gaon Care was inspired by the vision to bridge this gap by connecting rural patients with urban specialists through an AI-driven telemedicine platform. Together with my partner from a Computer Science Engineering (CSE) background, we set out to build a solution to make healthcare accessible.

What it does

Gaon Care connects rural patients with urban doctors through:

  • AI Symptom Checker: Helps patients input symptoms to get preliminary health assessments.
  • Virtual Consultations: Enables secure video/audio calls between remote patients and city doctors.
  • AI Integration: Uses Nebius AI tools to match patients with the right specialists and streamline appointments.

How we built it

Combining mechanical engineering problem-solving with computer science technical skills, we built Gaon Care using low-code tools and cloud components:

  • Frontend/UI: Designed a clean, simple interface for users with low technical literacy.
  • AI & Cloud Services: Integrated Nebius AI and cloud workflows to handle triage logic.
  • Communication: Used video APIs for smooth remote doctor-patient interaction.

Challenges we ran into

  • Learning Curve: Adapting and integrating different technical skill sets quickly under strict hackathon deadlines.
  • AI Integration: Figuring out how to configure Nebius AI tools into the app without prior experience with these specific platforms.
  • Accessibility: Ensuring the platform remains extremely simple and intuitive for non-tech-savvy rural users.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

  • Successfully built a working prototype of Gaon Care as a team during the hackathon.
  • Integrated AI-driven features to solve a real, high-impact healthcare problem in rural regions.
  • Overcame technical coding and cloud integration hurdles by leveraging our combined knowledge across disciplines.

What we learned

  • Rapid prototyping and cloud AI tools make it possible for a dedicated team with strong problem-solving mindsets to build impactful software.
  • Keeping the user experience (UX) ultra-simple is crucial when designing for rural demographics.
  • How to quickly research, adapt, collaborate, and build under strict hackathon deadlines.

What's next for Gaon care

  • Real AI & Doctor Integration: Connect the current prototype to actual AI models (like Google Cloud AI APIs) and real doctors so patients can have live video consultations and accurate symptom checks.
  • Multilingual Support: Add local Indian languages (like Hindi, regional dialects, etc.) so rural patients can easily use the platform without language barriers.
  • Low-Bandwidth Optimization: Optimize the app to run smoothly even on slow or poor internet connections, which is common in rural areas.
  • Pilot Testing: Run a small-scale trial in a rural community or local clinic to see how real users interact with the app and gather feedback for improvements.
