Inspiration

Our project's inspiration began with the Chrome T-Rex Dinosaur on this year's sweatshirts. Everyone on our team loves their pet dogs, and we chose a corgi as the main character—named after one member's dog, Gamora!

What It Does

Our game is a fast-paced, side-scrolling adventure inspired by the Chrome T-Rex game, but starring a lovable corgi named Gamora. Players tap the spacebar to make Gamora jump and hold it down to charge a higher leap, with a charge bar on the left displaying your jump power. Each section of the game is punctuated by a fire hydrant that acts as a breakpoint and checkpoint. In the first section, Gamora must catch a frisbee before reaching the fire hydrant, setting the pace for the level. The second section challenges you to leap at least through four hoops, and in the final section, you race to collect bone treats. Gather three treats to earn a gold medal, two for silver, or one for bronze. This blend of precision timing, strategic charging, and checkpoint progression creates a dynamic and engaging experience with a charming canine twist!

How We Built It

We built this by using Godot the game engine and Piskel for the art.

Challenges We Ran Into

Learning how Godot functions as a game engine. No one on the team had really experienced working with this type of game engine before and there were some learning curves.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

Making a functional game, designing all the sprites from scratch, and overall being able to put

What We Learned

How to work with a game engine and how to do pixel art!

What's Next for Gamora's Pup-venture

A more polished version featuring additional levels, enhanced sound effects, and an improved overall structure.
