Inspiration
Quarantine. COVID-19. As a result of the global pandemic, most of us need to stay at home. Oftentimes, things can get boring, and people are in need of some new form of entertainment.
What it does
It has 16 programs; 4 games, 4 animations, 4 personality tests and 4 user input activities. Some key features include it being colorful and organized. It is also interactive and adaptive to the user, providing a concise interface, making it entertaining to all audiences.
How we built it
Gaminations was written in JavaScript on the CodeHS platform. We also embedded our javascript code into HTML files to make it neatly laid out, and easier to share and access. We used CSS, jQuery, and Bootstrap libraries to style and format the website.
Challenges we ran into
Using jQuery was a challenge to get the instruction links and the text to update based on what the user clicks. Structuring the layout of the page, and resetting the activities to be played again was also a challenge for us.We also spent a solid amount of time on the web page to connect with Gaminations through image links. We overcame all of these challenges through effective teamwork and communication and learned a lot while doing so!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully creating all the games, animations, personality tests, and UIA. Creating a working website for Gaminations to combine all of these into one place (using jQuery and Bootstrap libraries for an interactive and adaptive user interface).
What we learned
*We improved our: -Time Management Skills, -Communication Skills- -Organization -Planning Skills -Coding Skills -Testing + Debugging -JS -HTML -CSS -Bootstrap -jQuery
What's next for Gaminations
Some future steps that we can take to further improve Gaminations include adding levels to the games, and more activities in general. We could also add more text and images on the homepage of the website. We may also consider adding sound effects in addition to the background music that we already have, wherever applicable.
