Inspiration

I was playing a mobile game called Purrfect Tale—it has these cute health bars, currency (fish), diamonds, and a little activity log you can expand in the corner. It made me wonder: what if real life had those? A dashboard for your actual life—tracking your mood, habits, finances, app usage, tasks—so you could literally see how you're doing. That idea became GamiLife.

What It Does

GamiLife turns your daily life into a dashboard. You get:

  • A breakdown and visualization of your finances
  • Budget setting & saving goals
  • A live transaction list
  • An activity log that combines transactions, to-dos, and app usage
  • A powerful task system:
    • Set difficulty
    • Flag high-priority items
    • Create recurring tasks (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)
    • Track streaks
    • Add subtasks
    • Add tags
  • Screen time tracking & app usage limits
  • Personal stats: mood score, health score, finance score
  • Leaderboards (friends-only or global)

How We Built It

I started with Figma, designing the app screens in detail. Then I used Bolt.new to turn those designs into code. I often used a mix of visual frames and descriptive prompts to guide the layout.

Stack so far:

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • HTML/CSS

Most of the development was done through prompting, tweaking, testing, and iterating.

Challenges We Ran Into

  • I spent a lot of the time on an original Figma design (nearly all the time) and it was quite custom—Bolt.new had trouble interpreting certain layout ideas like:
    • Three mini health bars at the top
    • Buttons in specific positions
    • A character walking around the screen
  • I ended up switching to a more traditional app layout that Bolt.new could handle more easily
  • I was also on the free plan, so I had to be extra efficient with prompt credits 😅
  • Time: I had so many ideas and just wanted to add more and more features and pages, but had to prioritise.

Accomplishments I'm Proud Of

  • The concept itself—gamifying life in a fun, visual way
  • The detailed Figma designs
  • Effectively prompting Bolt.new to bring those designs to life
  • Creating a working demo video

What I Learned

  • Balancing creative vision with technical feasibility is key
  • Prompting matters—a lot—when working with AI tools
  • It’s okay to start simple; you can iterate later

What’s Next for GamiLife

  • Connect to real APIs:
    • Banking APIs
    • Screen Time APIs
    • Calendar APIs
  • Add a backend (e.g. Supabase)
  • Integrate AI for:
    • Smarter data analysis
    • Personalized finance tips
    • Health coach suggestions
    • Smart scheduling
    • An AI character that gives you daily summaries
  • Add mood scoring from check-ins & daily context
  • Use mobile health data and fitness tasks to calculate health score
  • Calculate finance score from savings, debt repayments, and budgeting behavior
  • Add mood tracking page & fitness+health page
