Inspiration

Luke was watching one of his favourite streamers one day. They used to use a system to share tips between the moderators. On this day, they heard this company had been sold. The transitions which were pending hadn’t been released. After multiple attempts to contact their support, they still had no response. A week goes by and they’ve removed themselves from the platform, with no backup system in place. From watching other content creators they all manage their tips manually, this platform would be a massive saviour for them if it was in place. In comes LootSplit. Some content creators might like the control of managing and sharing the tips between their team but we see a true potential in the market for this kind of system.

What it does

LootSplit, allows content creators to create accounts via Stripe Connect, create a team so they can create their accounts on Stripe. Once all accounts are set up, we create a unique URL for them to display on their channels or social media to accept tips. Based on the percentage set by the Team Lead/ Owner, LootSplit will automatically split the tip ensuring it reaches the individual Stripe accounts for each member. We chose to use Stripe, as it gives them their own dashboard, allowing them to manage disputes and refunds, giving them the power back to them to manage the payments.

How we built it

We used Bolt.new for the majority of our development, with some manual intervention when required due to images not loading or manually adjusting RLS policies on Supabase. We use integrations with Bolt such as Netlify, Supabase and Stripe. With the power of Prompting we were able to build out all the functionality required for our website.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into some challenges along the way. Bolts ability to duplicate chats and start again. We often found this caused issues with our development and integrations didn’t carry over. Furthermore, this led to the use of a single chat window, increasing costs of development due to large token consumption. Another challenge we faced was a limitation with Stripe. Stripe doesn’t allow for cross border transfers, therefore, if a content creator in the US has a team member in the UK, we can’t transfer funds to the content creator but we can to the team member.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It’s simple, that within less than a week we had a functional website. The rest of the development was spent ensuring usability and design were complete. Ensuring that users would have the best experience and it matches our design idea of simple, modern and minimalist.

What we learned

That AI can greatly accelerate our development. Everything from development, debugging, writing and design. However, it does come with its limitations, it can become expensive if not managed correctly and without clear instructions can become stuck trying to resolve an issue.

What's next for LootSplit: Share the spoils.

We would like to turn this into a business, spend more time developing and work with some finance companies to understand our options, we’ve seen Stripe, Wise and Paypal Hyperwallet all support our requirements in some way. We think there is a real opportunity for this kind of platform in the market, not just for content creators but for other industries as well.

How we tested the deployment

  • Team Leader Setup:

    • Log in directly with test Twitch account to create your profile.
    • Create your Stripe account.
  • Team Creation:

    • From your dashboard, create your team and invite members.
    • Set the revenue share for each member (e.g., give your editor 30%).
    • The platform ensures the total share always adds up to 100%.
  • Team Member Setup:

    • Team members use the invitation link to log in with their Twitch account and join the team.
    • They connect their own Stripe account to receive their share of tips directly.
  • Tipping Process:

    • LootSplit generates a unique tipping URL for your team.
    • Use the link to access the tipping page for this team.
  • Automatic Tip Distribution:

    • When a tip is processed, LootSplit automatically splits it and pays out each team member instantly. ## Test Accounts John Smith
