Inspiration We love the energy of group games, but realized that setting up and running them—especially with the right tools—often kills the momentum. We wanted to create an app where AI not only suggests the perfect game for any group, but instantly generates all the tools needed to play, making group fun effortless and spontaneous.

What it does GameWise is an AI-powered web app that recommends the best group games based on your group’s size, mood, and preferences. Once a game is chosen, it instantly creates the necessary tools—like scoreboards, timers, random pickers, and more—so you can start playing right away.

How we built it We used Bolt.new for rapid, full-stack development, leveraging its AI-driven coding to scaffold the React frontend and Node.js backend. The app uses a curated database of group games and dynamically generates web tools based on each game’s needs. Tailwind CSS was used for a modern, responsive UI, and Netlify for instant deployment.

Challenges we ran into The biggest challenge was designing the runtime tool generation engine—making sure the AI could understand each game’s requirements and build the right interactive tools on demand. We also had to balance speed with polish, given the tight hackathon timeframe.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We’re proud that we delivered a fully functional app in under a day, with seamless AI-powered game recommendations and instant tool generation. Watching the “magic moment” when tools appear for each game was a huge win for our team.

What we learned We learned how powerful AI-assisted development can be for rapid prototyping, and how much value comes from focusing on user experience. We also discovered the importance of clear communication between AI, code, and end-users.

What's next for GameWise We plan to expand the game library, add more customizable tools, and introduce features like real-time collaboration and voice-controlled game hosts. Ultimately, we want GameWise to be the go-to platform for every group gathering, online or offline.
