Inspiration

Like many parents, we adore our children, and they, like most children, love to play. They play everywhere - at home, in the car, in the park, at parties, using any game kits they can find. From simple pen and paper to magic wands, superpower clothes, and pirate ships built from Amazon boxes, their creativity knows no bounds. To keep up with their endless demand for new games, we turned to AI technology. We used PartyRock to build an app called GameScout.

What it does

This app can generate a new game for you, your kids, your friends, and family. You can choose the location, duration, and the Game Kit you have available. You can also specify the number of players and their ages. The app provides the rules of the game, and there’s an interactive assistant on hand to answer any questions you might have about the game.

We hope you’ll enjoy it! Give this scenario a try sometime: • Location: A kingdom far, far away • Game kit available: Magic wands, unicorns • Age range: 5 to 1000

How we built it

We tried different combinations of foundation models, their parameters, and prompts before coming to the app’s current state. It provides a good combination of creativity and pragmatism in game generation.

Challenges we ran into

Some foundational models were not easily adaptable for our needs, so we spent some time trying to select the right ones.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

GameScout works and gives us game ideas we wouldn’t be able to come up with ourselves.

What we learned

PartyRock is a very powerful tool, even though it looks like a simple playground.

What's next for GameScout - Game Generation App

We are planning to try Amazon Bedrock and bring the app to the next level when it can be shared with wider audiences as a mobile and web application.
