Inspiration
Loneliness has skyrocketed during the pandemic, GamerChat allows for lonely gamers to find friends to play games with.
What it does
Given a player's gamer tag and game of choice, the application will pair the player with other gamers that share their game of choice.
How we built it
Build with Node.JS, Express.JS, and socket.io on the back end and with html, css, Javascript on the front end.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges along the way. The most challenging aspect of this project was designing, this was the most challenging aspect as we had to figure out exactly what backend APIs we have to develop alongside our frontend to make a functional Gamer Chat.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our biggest accomplishment was creating a functional website to be able to queue up and match with other users with similar interests in games with an ability to chat on the website.
What we learned
One of the main things we learned was how to create a functional website with backend APIs to support the functionality of the Frontend, this was done using NodeJS to develop backend APIs using the REST protocol.
What's next for Gamer Chat
Adding an accompanying interactive multiplayer webgl, VR game with voice chat that allows players to better interact with potential friends.
