GameDay
Inspiration
As a first year graduate student, just moved to Madison (Jose Trejo), I found that the biggest issue for me when coming to a game was where to I find all the information. The hardest part of game day isn't the game. It's everything around it. Where do we park? Where do we eat? When do we leave? How do I find my seat? Game-day information is spread across the UW Athletics site, UW parking pages, city garage pages, Google Maps and group chats. As a team(Duy, Ayush, Casper, Jose), we wanted one place that turns all of that into a simple plan. And that is what motivated all of us, a passion for sport and a problem in common
What it does
gameday turns a Wisconsin home game at Camp Randall into one simple plan, on the web and on your phone. Fans can compare parking lots and shuttles, add bars, restaurants and tailgates to their day, and join fan groups to walk over, tailgate or pregame. A leave-by planner says when to head out, and a step-by-step guide takes you from the gate to your seat. Local businesses advertise with sponsored cards and track views and clicks on their own dashboard.
How we built it
We used an AI agent to help us accelerate the building process of our website and mobile app. First we researched where all of the information was stored. We started by researching official sources: UW Athletics for the schedule and gate information, UW Transportation Services for parking prices and shuttle rules, and the City of Madison for garage data. Integrated google maps (which was hard) and AI helped us with this process.
Challenges we ran into
Integration of google maps and video creation. This took several rounds and hurdles to be able make everything go smoothly
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have fully functional website, that we are certain it helps in the creation of a planner for gameday. It integrates different websites into a single one. Making the overall experience for accessible and simple
What we learned
How far an AI agent can accelerate building when we give it clear requirements and push back on the details.Clear product decisions matter more than more features: what to show first, what to cut, and when to say "we don't know yet." Trust is a feature: showing fans real, sourced information and being honest about limits
What's next for GameDay
With game day we want to venture into into different UW sports, obtaining an official partnership and and add feature listings to it, this are our short term goals. As for long term, we want to expand into minor and pro league, add a feature for hotel search/booking and more importantly reaching other college towns.
