Inspiration

As someone who has been playing tennis for over 10 years, and is 14, I acknowledge that I am very fortunate to be able to afford and access good coaching. This app was inspired by my father who self trained himself for tennis, and ended up playing nationals here in the US. However, while he made it very far by training himself, had he had access to coaching he may have made it to a professional level and possibly even further. I want anyone to be able to have the opportunity to take their tennis as far as they can, and have the proper coaching to do so.

What it does

My app analyzes the users swing and allows them to chooses the professionals they would like to model it after. It then gives them feedback coordinated with the persons goals, as well as any additional things the player could improve on. The player can come back some time later and go through this process again, hopefully having improved, and then go back to the 'saved' tab and view their progress. This app provides good coaching to those who want it but may not have the resources to do so.

How I built it

I used Cursor to build my app.

Challenges I ran into

It was at times very difficult to prompt Cursor to shape the app as I wanted, and it has actually made my app worse and crashed a few times. Another challenge I ran into was that when I uploaded my video, I realized that there were multiple people playing, and that it could have been analyzing any one of those people instead of me, resulting in inaccurate feedback. An additional issue I tackled was that when I first added my AI chatbot tool under the analyzer, it gave irrelevant, vague, or repetitive responses.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of how my app turned out, and that it is giving helpful information that I have heard from my coaches. I am also happy that it now asks the user which player they are if there are multiple people in the video. I am happy that my chatbot now works, and that it has answered my questions with helpful tips.

What I learned

I learned that it is easier to do this type of project solo, as it is very difficult to share a project while working on it and having multiple people edit it at the same time may end up with different results. I also learned that Cursor can actually put your project into Github and Vercel for you!

What's next for Game Set Match

I want to keep working on Game Set Match, and hopefully tune it to become even more accurate. I would like to be able to publish my app, and have people actually use it to improve their games.
