Inspiration
Created for Best Product IOT Hack and Best #ExpandYourHorizons Hack, Prodactivity is designed to help stay focused at work or school, and ensure that even when your daily schedule may not be consistent or normal because of COIVD-19, that you are able to stay on track while still taking breaks!
What it does
Prodactivity is built to let users input their agenda, but turns getting work done into a game. Each time a user completes a task they gain coins which they can later use to purchase more characters. There is also a game feature, so that you can play little mini games as a break between assignments without getting distracted for long periods of time.
How I built it
We built this project using Unity and C#.
Challenges I ran into
Collaborating Virtually - One challenge we ran into was just trying to find a way to collaborate on the project together. In the past, we'd made web pages and used Glitch, but we couldn't do that with Unity and we also couldn't just hand a flash drive back and forth since Technica was virtual. We ended up figuring out how to set up a GitHub repository. Firebase - We spent a long time trying to figure out how to set up Firebase to work with Unity so that we could store player data in Google Cloud. However, many errors came up, so we had to come u with an alternate way to store data.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We entered this hackathon with two of us never having used Unity before, so we're proud that we learned about Unity and were able to make something cool with it!
What I learned
We learned all about how to use Unity and coding in C#!
What's next for Prodactivity
Over the next few weeks we would like to implement some of our original ideas that we did not have time to implement during Technica, including mini games automatically stopping after a certain amount of time, the ability for the user to create groups to sort tasks into, and a friend system.
