Inspiration
This project is heavily inspired by DOOM: The Gallery Experience, and various other similar gallery mods for different game.
What it does
In this game, users can freely upload their own images and go around their own procedurally generated gallery! Users can also download and share their own customized gallery with others.
How we built it
This project is built primarily with GDscript, GDShader, and Javascript through the Godot game engine along with other various software such as blender, asprite, and FLstudios for modeling, sprites, and music.
Challenges we ran into
Along the way of building the project, we had to restructure our approach multiple times. Several implementations were redone when better approaches were found or when original designs proved impractical, allowing us to improve the overall architecture and adapt to the evolving needs of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are especially proud of the the feature of sending your gallery to your friend along with Procedurally generated gallery with an artistic feel.
What we learned
Procedural clean procedural level generation with walls and interior rooms. How to unpackage files and organize data as well as repacking files into a smaller export
What's next for Gallaero
We are thinking of adding a multiplayer function, and if possible, the ability for users to fully customize their own gallery via a builder rather than relying on procedural generation.
