Galerie 134 - Art for Everyone

Inspiration

Art galleries are unfortunately closed. We all enjoy art in our group and want to also enjoy it from home. In an interconnected world, we have the opportunity to do just that. We need to support small galleries for the cultural importance they carry and for the stories they tell.

What it does

The app allows every art galleries to create an account and to publish their paintings for everyone to see. The app allows to browse galleries and to see their paintings in augmented reality.

How we built it

We built the app on the iOS ecosystem with SwiftUI and ARKit using Xcode.

Challenges we ran into

We ran in a lot of challenges, the Apple development environment is very powerful, but also very confined. The main challenge was connecting SwiftUI and ARKit. Another challenge was to work in teams online, and share informations and code.

Accomplishments that We are proud of

Finding and building a prototype that could be very useful.

What we learned

We certainly learned more about iOS development and working in teams online.

What's next for Galerie 134 - Art for Everyone

We think this idea could have a lot of potential, not just in times like these but also in the future. Our goal is not to completely virtualise art but make it accessible everywhere. We hope to give the opportunity for galleries to share their art and for people to be curious about art.
