"Exploring the Galaxy: Progression Reloaded"
Inspiration
We were inspired by the opportunity to transform “Galaxy Run” into a more rewarding and mobile-friendly experience. After watching how players interacted with the original version, we saw the need for clearer progression and more moments worth sharing. Our goal was to create something that players could not only enjoy but feel proud to show off to friends — whether they were completing a challenge or unlocking a new level.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was finding the right balance between depth and simplicity — especially on mobile. We had to rethink layouts, UI elements, and game flow to make everything intuitive without losing the excitement. Optimizing the world for smooth performance on mobile, while still including rich content and effects, also pushed us to rework certain systems from the ground up.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how seamless and enjoyable the progression system has become. From the moment players start, they’re guided into the world with a clear goal and get rewarded in a satisfying way. The leaderboard system adds healthy competition, and the sharable moments — like unlock animations and win scenes — have made the world more social. Seeing players stay longer and invite others in means a lot.
What we learned
We learned how much small design choices — like onboarding flow, camera angles, and reward pacing — can dramatically affect how people experience and stick with a world. We also saw firsthand how optimizing for mobile requires more than just resizing — it’s about simplifying the experience without making it feel empty.
What’s next for “Galaxy Run: Progression Reloaded”
Next, we plan to introduce seasonal content, co-op challenges, and deeper character customization to keep players engaged long-term. We're also exploring new API features, like team-based interactions and dynamic events, to make the experience feel even more alive. This update was just the beginning — there’s a whole galaxy left to explore.
