Inspiration
We made a spin-off of the classic Subway Surfers game and turned into a fun, enjoyable endless runner game in which Gompei is trying to get to school.
What it does
A simple endless runner game in which one plays as our beloved mascot, Gompei the goat, running to class and avoiding obstacles while collecting GoatBucks.
How we built it
We used Unity as the game engine, we produced the music and sound effects with LMMS, we did some image editing and graphical design with GIMP, and we edited models using Blender.
Challenges we ran into
There were troubles getting animation models to work, there was issues with particle visibility in the main menu UI, and the jump was too high until we adjusted it to proper specifications. We also had issues making the game seem smooth, polished, and realistic.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to work together and learn how to use software to put together a full game in limited time.
What we learned
We learned the usage of Unity and Blender, through which we combined assets and assembled the game.
What's next for Gakkou ni Gompei! (Gompei Goes to School!)
If possible, we would consider implementing more features and polish to the game, perhaps mini-games, special abilities, etc., alongside improved animations.
