Inspiration
The inspiration behind Gaia's Touch stems from the pressing need to address social and environmental challenges through collective action. With a growing awareness of sustainability and social causes, there was a clear gap in connecting individuals willing to contribute with local NGOs working towards these goals. Gaia's Touch aims to bridge this gap and empower both individuals and organizations to make a meaningful impact on society and the environment.
What it does
Gaia's Touch serves as a centralized platform connecting individuals and organizations with local NGOs focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It facilitates volunteer recruitment, donation management, event creation, and progress tracking, fostering collaboration and community involvement in addressing social and environmental challenges. Through its intuitive interface and integration of Google technologies, Gaia's Touch streamlines the process of contributing towards SDGs, making it accessible to a wide audience.
How we built it
Gaia's Touch was built using Flutter for the frontend development, leveraging Google Cloud services, Firebase, and Google Sheets for backend functionalities. We utilized Google Firebase Authentication for user profile management, Google Forms for volunteer recruitment, and Google Cloud Pub/Sub for messaging and communication features. Additionally, Google Analytics was integrated to track user behavior and optimize outreach efforts. The platform's scalability and robustness were ensured through its integration with various Google technologies.
Challenges we ran into
One of the key challenges we encountered was ensuring seamless integration of different Google technologies while maintaining a user-friendly experience. We also faced difficulties in designing a comprehensive yet intuitive interface that caters to the diverse needs of users and NGOs.
