Inspiration
We were inspired by a growing problem that we personally experience too: many people feel uncertain about their future careers despite having strong academic skills. Most career tools only match users based on skills, not lifestyle or lived experience. At the same time, students are often limited to a narrow set of “popular” careers like medicine, law, or engineering, even though there are thousands of amazing paths available. We wanted to solve this gap between knowing a job exists and actually understanding what it feels like to live it. Our goal was to help users explore careers in a more realistic, engaging, and personal way.
What it does
FYI (Find Your Impact) is an interactive career exploration platform that combines simulation-based learning with AI-driven personalization in a fun an engaging way.
Users can:
Experience niche and realistic job simulations (not just quizzes or descriptions)
Explore careers through interactive gameplay-style scenarios
Reflect on each experience through a guided feedback system
Receive personalized recommendations from our AI assistant, ABBi
Gradually discover career paths that match both their skills and lifestyle preferences
Unlike traditional career tests, FYI creates a feedback loop between experience, reflection and recommendation.
How we built it
We built the prototype using Godot for interactive simulation elements and a web-based interface for navigation between pages such as the home screen, simulation entry points, and reflection system. Our AI assistant, ABBi, and the app itself were designed by using CSS and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was the technical learning curve. As beginner hackers, working with Godot and integrating it with HTML code was difficult within a short time frame. However, these challenges pushed us to learn quickly and adapt using available resources.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to build a functional interactive prototype within a limited timeframe and being able to learn and apply new tools in a short hackathon period. Most importantly, we are proud that we created something that feels meaningful and scalable beyond the hackathon.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned that AI is not just a tool for automation, but a powerful way to enhance human decision-making and self-discovery when used thoughtfully. Most importantly, we learned that beginners can still build impactful ideas when they are willing to experiment and learn quickly.
What's next for FYP by Team Eggward
With more time and funding, we plan to expand FYI in several directions:
Add a much larger database of niche and emerging careers
Improve AI personalization in ABBi using deeper user behavior tracking
Expand lifestyle-based tagging (not just skills, but work environment, social interaction, pace, etc.)
Fully develop VR integration for immersive, realistic job simulations
Improve polish, UI design, and accessibility for wider audiences
In the long term, we hope FYP becomes a platform that helps people confidently explore careers through experience, not just prediction.
