Inspiration

The inspiration for this project was that in August I would be applying to universities abroad. Being in Pakistan I realized that there are no resources or guidance available. Yes, there are articles and YouTube videos but none feel catered to you or answer the specific question. All my summer I was looking for an internship but I couldn't find one. Moreover, I would spend countless nights just to figure out the colleges that accept international students, provide financial aid, and have good majors. Thus the idea of FutureFirst was born, an all-in-one app to help students of Pakistan pursue their studies abroad and enhance their application with internships and courses.

What it does

FutureFirst is a comprehensive platform designed to support students in Pakistan by addressing their unique challenges and helping them achieve academic and professional success. FutureFirst provides students with services like financial planners, college counselors, community forums, internship opportunities, and online courses, It equips students to be successful and acts as an all-in-one app for students.

How we built it

We built Futurefirst using drag-and-drop website builders like Wix. On Wix, we designed the homepage for FutureFirst. Then we used Figma to make a prototype for the financial planner. We used Canva to make the presentation and the logo. We also used Canva to create sample pages of the college counselor, internships, courses, and community forums. Then after making a sample of everything we recorded each feature separately to add on the presentation as a user guide.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we ran into was that initially, we planned to make it all on Wix like everything but that proved impossible as we could not figure out how to add all the services and how all of them would work at once so we decided to use Canva, we used Canva for college counselor and community but when we had to make the financial planner we realized that we could not capture all the features on a single slide and we would need something more complicated. So we learned figma basics and by watching YouTube we somehow built a sample of the financial planner. However, when we first built the college counselor we made it for a desktop but then realized making everything for mobile would be easier so we had to redo the college planner for mobile. Making everything for mobile provided us with another challenge the dimensions of each sample. we somehow fixed that and then it was all ready.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have completed our project in time as in the beginning it felt like an impossible task as we were all beginners and this is our first hackathon. We are also proud of the fact that we made something that has the potential to help millions of students.

What we learned

During this project, we learned about different platforms like Figma. We learned how millions of students struggle with the same thing and that there is no one to help them. We also learned the importance of teamwork and hard work.

What's Next for Future First

We want to make FutureFirst a fully functional app with all the features to help students in Pakistan with their education. We want the app to go public for all users and make it available on the Play Store and App Store. We would advertise it through social media and by contacting schools to encourage students to use this app.
