Fused app update version 2 Fused – Where All Media Collide 📌 Inspiration Social media has become fragmented — some platforms prioritize photos, others video, text, or voice. We asked ourselves: What if users could combine all formats into a single creative unit and truly express themselves without constraint?
That idea sparked Fused — a next-generation social networking app inspired by Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. But instead of replicating their limitations, we aimed to fuse their strengths into a new kind of user experience. One where expression isn't dictated by format, and where AI enhances creativity rather than controlling it.
We were also inspired by the early days of social media — a time when creativity felt more personal and less algorithmic. Fused is our attempt to bring that magic back, but for a modern audience.
What it does Fused is a multi-format social network that lets users create Fusions — posts that can include video, audio, text, images, music, and emojis, all combined into one. It supports:
A scrollable Home Feed with AI-personalized Fusions
Fusion Reels — vertical short-form videos with AR filters
Fused Circles — interest-based community groups
A unique Mood Ring status feature
Real-time messaging and ephemeral sharing
AI tools for smart captions, topic suggestions, and personalization
Fusion Challenges with community voting and creator monetization
Users can create, share, explore, and earn — all from a beautifully modern interface designed with dark mode, swipe gestures, and drag-and-drop content creation.
How we built it We used a React Native frontend for rapid cross-platform mobile development. On the backend, we integrated Supabase for authentication, database, and real-time features like messaging and notifications.
Tech Stack: Frontend: React Native (Expo), Redux for state management
Backend: Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, Realtime DB)
AI Integrations:
OpenAI GPT: Auto-captions, mood detection, smart feed curation
Banuba / DeepAR SDK: Real-time video filters and AR effects
Video Optimization: Adaptive bitrate streaming and local caching for offline support
UI/UX Tools: Figma for design prototyping, Lottie for micro-interactions
We followed a modular approach with a clean folder structure, scalable state logic, and reusable components.
🧱 Challenges we ran into Media Composition: Creating a Fusion post that can hold multiple media types simultaneously required complex UI and media stack handling.
AI Integration: Integrating AI filters and GPT models in real-time, especially for mobile devices with limited compute, was a challenge.
Realtime Messaging: Getting reliable real-time communication with Supabase's websocket-based system took tuning.
UI Performance: Rendering dynamic, media-heavy feeds without sacrificing performance demanded tight memory and animation optimization.
Cross-Platform Bugs: React Native occasionally behaved differently on iOS and Android — which made debugging tricky.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a multi-format post builder (Fusion Studio) that lets users combine any type of media
Designed a fluid UI/UX that rivals top social platforms, with swipe gestures and animations
Integrated AI personalization and AR filters for an enhanced user experience
Launched a working community and challenge system within days
Delivered a feature-rich MVP with messaging, stories, groups, and monetization support
Created a truly unique user experience — Fused doesn't mimic, it innovates.
📚 What we learned React Native is incredibly powerful, but requires strict discipline to scale cleanly
Supabase is a great all-in-one backend, but benefits from custom logic layering
AI models (like GPT) add tremendous value when integrated thoughtfully into UX
Users want tools that let them be expressive — not just consume
The future of social media is not just about features — it's about feel and freedom
What's next for Fused We're excited about what’s ahead:
Launch on TestFlight and Google Play Beta
Build a Creator Monetization Toolkit (tips, NFTs, sponsored fusions)
Integrate Fusion AI Assistant for real-time editing and content suggestions
Expand Fusion Challenges into global competitions
Add Voice-only Fusions and Mood-based Discovery
Enable full offline mode for users in low-connectivity areas
Open-source parts of our core for the creator/dev community
We believe Fused has the potential to become the most expressive, creative, and community-focused social network ever made.
