Inspiration

Originally, Furtunatu is a poignant chant, quite desperate. The film explores how unspoken love can expand into a world of fantasy and sweet madness— from Mediterranean village life to lunar dreamscapes — blending folklore, poetic imagery, and a subtle touch of Tim Burton–esque. The goal was to transform a timeless chant into a visual metaphor about longing, using imagination as both escape and mirror.

What it does

Reinterprets a Corsican love song through symbolic, cinematic imagery. Follows a shy village poet whose affection turns into dream projections and lunar visions. Uses fantasy, duality, and metaphor to illustrate the emotional spiral of unrequited desire. Remains ambiguous — the line between dream, hallucination, and reality is intentionally left open.

How we built it

Brainstorming and prompting process pro-active, feedback loop with interactive AI like Grok. Generative visuals crafted with Dreamina using surreal spatial compositions to reflect the protagonist’s inner world. Neo-classical score built as a modern reinterpretation of the traditional song. Visual style inspired by Mediterranean folklore, moon mythology, and the poesy found in certain Tim Burton sequences.

Challenges we ran into

Translating a lyrical, non-narrative traditional song into a cinematic story without betraying its emotional essence. Balancing poetry and clarity: suggesting a plot without revealing or over-explaining it. Working with generative tools to create cohesive dreamspaces, as for all AI clip, find the right syntax for push the limit of the AI generative, specially the spatialization of objects and subjects, position x, y, z in a shot. Keeping the tone suspended between humor, melancholy, and fantasy.
