Inspiration

I built a personalized career guidance app called FURP, and the inspiration behind this project stems from addressing the challenges faced by recent high school graduates. After reading key parts of "The Element" book by Ken Robinson, I gained insights into the importance of discovering one's passion and aligning it with academic and career choices. Robinson's book emphasized the significance of personalized guidance, which resonated with the vision for FURP. It reinforced my belief in empowering individuals to make informed decisions that lead to a successful academic journey and a fulfilling career.

What it does

The project involves creating a personalized career guidance app called FURP for recent high school graduates. The app aims to help users discover their passions, explore tailored study options, and receive expert advice to embark on a successful academic journey and a fulfilling career. Users can answer questions about their interests and preferences, and the app provides guidance based on their responses. The goal is to empower students to make informed decisions about their education and future careers.

How we built it

To build the FURP app, I utilized PartyRock, a non-code project. The front end is designed with a user-friendly interface, making it intuitive for recent high school graduates to navigate through the app. I´ve used it with some people to have feedback and improve it.

Challenges we ran into

Testing FURP with a diverse user group proved challenging, requiring meticulous attention to user experiences. Striking a balance between cutting-edge technologies and user-friendly accessibility was another hurdle in reaching an optimal product

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Positive feedback from diverse students across different schools reflects the tool's effectiveness. It will contribute significantly to our mission of reducing university dropout rates.

What we learned

Throughout the development of FURP, I gained insights into the accessibility and rapid implementation of AI-based solutions. The process highlighted that creating impactful tools is now more straightforward and within reach for everyone. Moreover, addressing societal challenges effectively can propel us toward a more sustainable future when we harness the potential of technology and collaboration.
