Funtranslations

Inspiration

This project is solution for challenge given by 20I company. The challenge was to make something boring, fun.

What it does

This site boasts an attractive interface, fast performance, and translations for several languages. Namely- Minions, Dragon, Groot, Pirates, Shakespeare. It allows you to enter a word, phrase, or large text document, select the translation language and hit the Turn button to see the results. If you want to hear the translated text, you just need to choose the voice.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS, JS Funtranslations API for this project. Initially we developed the frontend. We added menu for different character and also a contact page. After that we added JavaScript code and integrated API for one character, then we did the same for other character. Then the code for text to speech was added which will convert translated text into speech. Then finally we hosted the website on Netlify

Challenges we ran into

Typically, for CSS styling, for API because the requests were limited and Text-to-Speech

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully converted to 5 characters with voice overs

What we learned

Use of FunTranslations API, converting text to speech using pure JavaScript

What's next for Funtranslations

In future it can be converted into a chat application and different voices of cartoon characters can added.
