Inspiration
Three years ago, wee little Jessica attended her first hackathon at the University of Michigan. I had a team of young friends just like me, super energetic and eager to get hackin'. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, my team disbanded and I was left alone in the large sea of geniuses. What do I do? Give up and go home after standing in line for over an hour? Cry in the bathroom while playing Adele? No, I create a Quote Generator! :D
What it does
This simple, brightly-colored website will randomly pull a quote from a collection of quotes and show it to you. Then, you read the quote and feel better.
How I built it
A simple website, I used Javascript to embed the quotes into the page.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Even though this isn't a super cool, technical, cancer-solving web app or something, it is very meaningful and important to me.
This website represented that despite a pretty big set back (not having a team in my first ever hackathon), I still made something out of it! Even it's a simple quote generator website. I still made something and had an educational, fun time by myself tinkering with web development. This represents my "spirit," that I am the type of person who keeps going with the flow and doesn't really let other peoples' decisions stop me from the ones I've already made.
I told myself I was going to go to this hackathon and make something cool. I definitely could have made something cooler if I had a team, but that's OK. I still made something and had a nice time. I'm proud of myself for still attending the hackathon and making something, even if it's as simple as a website. It was also the first time I dipped my lil' toes in programming all by myself! :) *yOU Go JeSsiCa!
What I learned
I learned that I'm a lot more scrappy than I thought! Freshman me definitely would not have thought that I would have stuck through a pretty intimidating but fun environment as a hackathon, but I did. And that's awesome. Because all I've got is me, so I'd better improve fast! :)
What's next for Funny Quote Generator
Nothing. This project has accomplished its goal, which was being the symbol of a learning experience. Do what you want! Keep your word! Don't give up! Life is too short to stop yourself because plans go awry or someone pulls the emergency break. (Just keep going and ignore the distractions. You'll be glad you did :D)
