A platform for CS college students to learn skills, showcase projects, tutor and collaborate with other students.

Inspiration

We were inspired by the environment at the hackathon, we wanted to create a platform where cs students can get a similar feeling. The best part about hackathons are its a breeding ground for developing new ideas, collaborating and connecting with new people while being exposed to new skills.

What it does

Funnels is allows users to post any side project they have been working on and give a detailed tutorial on their through process through the making of the project and what challenges they faced to help other students that are interested in learning how to build a similar project.

How we built it

we built it using react.ts and Next.js for the frontend with hosting provided by aws amplify. The front end is connected to an Express.js server that will be hosted on an EC2 instance in AWS. We used Mongo DB atlas for our database and AWS S3 for static file storage for user uploads.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are truly proud of what we've been able to accomplish so far, pulling all AWS resources and connecting it with MongoDb we are proud of our design we are proud of our discussion feature that currently allows threaded conversation and we are proud of the work and dedication we put into this project.

What we learned

Building this Project introduced US to new cloud technologies like Atlas and AWS Cognito, We learnt how to design the architecture for a project that uses multiple cloud technologies at once.

What's next for Funells

We plan to continue development on the web app until we launch locally at our university UMD and gradually expand our presence hopefully.
