Inspiration

We were inspired by the stark reality that millions of people worldwide face financial hardship while generous individuals want to help but don't know where to donate. The gap between those with resources and those in need creates a barrier to meaningful charitable action. FundBridge was born from the idea of making charitable giving as simple and transparent as possible.

What it does

FundBridge is a donation platform that connects compassionate donors with verified charitable causes in real-time. Our platform allows donors to:

  • Browse multiple causes across categories like education, healthcare, poverty relief, animal rescue, women empowerment, and environmental conservation
  • Make secure donations directly to vetted organizations
  • Track their impact and see where their contributions go
  • Register and manage their own charitable causes

Recipients can:

  • Create and manage fundraising campaigns
  • Receive donations securely
  • Communicate impact stories to donors
  • Build community support for their missions

How we built it

We built FundBridge using a modern web technology stack:

  • Frontend: React.js for a responsive, user-friendly interface
  • Backend: Node.js with Express for secure API endpoints
  • Database: MongoDB for flexible data management
  • Authentication: JWT-based secure login system
  • Payment Integration: Secure payment gateway for donations
  • Deployment: Netlify for seamless deployment and hosting

Challenges we ran into

  1. Trust & Verification: Ensuring donors trust that their money reaches legitimate causes required implementing a thorough vetting process for organizations
  2. Payment Security: Integrating secure payment systems while maintaining user privacy and data protection
  3. Scalability: Building infrastructure that could handle growth from local to global operations
  4. User Experience: Designing an intuitive interface for both donors and fundraisers with varying technical expertise
