Inspiration
There are many young people in Africa who are interested in being financially free. Most of them may lack the knowledge of how to achieve that since such knowledge is not taught in school. I found it a noble duty to educate young Africans on ways in which they can be financially free.
What it does
Fulusi is a web application providing information on how to achieve finance freedom. In it, it contains modules that educate on different ways of earning, saving and investing. Information provided is back by research as to be best practices.
How I built it
First, I created a wireframe for the web app. It was then the phase of creating the layout. After that, I endeavored to design the user interface into a proper look. I then added and refined the functions of the app .
Challenges I ran into
Creating a web app is a time consuming job. I did not have proper reference for learning how to create a web app. I thought of creating a mobile app which seemed like a better option but I did not have knowledge in that. Also, I would have loved to do surveys to gather more information about what the app should be but my time was limited.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I have learnt a lot about web development which is in line with my personal goals.
What I learned
Being patient with the process of development. I noticed that I am more included to gain more from video content rather than written content.
What's next for Fulusi
After the hackathon, a survey will be published. Its finding will be used further refine the app. Hoping to gain more information and adding it to the app. A mobile version of the app is set to be developed.
