Inspiration

800 million jobs are estimated to be automated away by around according to McKinsey Global institute. 80 trillion dollars is the estimated market cap brought to bear from Ai and self driving and beyond according to Ark Invest by around 2030, i,e, around the same estimated time as mass layoffs/automation. We must reasonably move to earn a part of this yield, and avoid ending up in the deficit/gap. One potential solution, I propose, includes local embodied ai education ecosystem. This concerns teaching and also hands on practical usage of locally designed, as well as creation of niche/embodied ai products or tangible products with ai imbued. (Includes smart devices etc. The goal of this is to eventually get ahead of mass automation and likely fallout, encouraging local manufacture of ai imbued products, for local use and export!) Education is often a factor of how efficient an economy's tech status fairs. (Prime example: America and China's Ai education are reasonably very very strong, and consequently, it is observed that their Ai economy is quite strong!) The "iCognium Neuroverse" ecosystem/course, includes a full scale self driving project (which I've almost finished building), and concerns teaching students neural network software, up to integrating basic self driving into the actual vehicle. This ecosystem/course is an updated form of a ecosystem/course I created in 2016, as I also cited in the gleaner/2018 "Why Jamaica urgently needs a Minister of Ai".

What it does

Dio Lucciola is a self driving prototype for iCognium ecosystem. This ecosystem seeks to embed Ai courses across all levels of education in Jamaica.

How I built it

Solo project so far, involved:

  1. Blender3d and Rhino 3d for 3d design (I designed the vehicle in abou 40 hours of 3d modeling)
  2. Real life automotive frame creation
  3. Real life full scale car body creation
  4. Real life chassis creation

Challenges I ran into

Many challenges from 3d modeling to cost of building the actual vehicle. Just the body alone required around $700k or $4500 usd for construction. When I hand crafted the vehicle's body, managing fiberglass/resin usage was also challenging.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Glad to have a real life full scale prototype that exists, though there's work left. Working with fiberglass is not for the weak!

I'm also proud of the 3d model that I made from scratch, which was used as a premis to construct the real full scale thing.

What's next for Dio Lucciola

I plan to continue work on this prototype. I invite interested idividuals to email me at icosmosneuroverse@gmail.com or icognium@gmail.com.
