Inspiration
The inspiration for this app derives from realizing that future artists often need help with stimulating their creativity and inspiration. It is important because many creative individuals struggle with having additional help too guide, stimulate and mold their creative genius into something more than simple doodles on a page.
What it does
Our solution targets the intended user as anyone however, it particularly helps those expressing an interest in art, but may have challenges with affording art lessons. This app helps to provide a gateway to a personal lesson, on their own schedule.
Challenges I ran into
The initial challenges we encountered reflected arranging it as either having the screens flow in a landscape mode versus a portrait mode as the user scrolls left-to-right/top-bottom. This in combination with ensuring the color selection is broad and robust for an artist. Solutions came as we learned additional combinations of block code that would support what we wanted to do and the feedback we received from the local competition addressing the user experience. The suggestions we received provided us critical advice to return to the app and rethink our approach of how we would overcome the problem.
Accomplishments that we are proud of first is that it works and that many people can actually use it and learn about art.
What I learned
Our key lesson learned from this experience; designing something is more challenging than we expected. We use apps daily but often take for granted the user experience the designers/programmers put into the app to make the app fun, inviting, and simple to use for multiple users.
What's next for Frugal Art
We plan to improve our app by adjusting it to support more colors in the spectrum, more precision in the images, better selection button for the user and output to the screen by adding code that will support each one.
