Froopy Chat

Inspiration

On usual social media apps, people have so many friends and followers yet they don't talk much. They don't share all their feelings because they think they will be judged, and then they look for alternatives on the internet - random chatting sites to find like-minded people across the internet world who understand them without judgment.

What it does

Froopy Chat bridges the gap for a purely chatting app, where users can share and discuss anything without getting judged, as nobody knows each other. It creates a safe space for authentic conversations between strangers who can connect based on shared interests and preferences, fostering genuine human connections in a judgment-free environment.

How we built it

I used Bolt.new and Claude Code to build this project. For the backend, I implemented Supabase for real-time database operations and authentication, and deployed the application using Netlify for seamless hosting and continuous deployment. The tech stack also includes React with TypeScript for the frontend and Tailwind CSS for modern styling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am almost close to matching the quality of already present random chatting sites in the market, but with a ** better UI** and enhanced user experience. This represents a major achievement for me as a developer, creating a platform that not only competes with existing solutions but offers improved design and functionality that users actually want to engage with.

What we learned

I learned how to build these types of complex social platforms from scratch, including real-time chat systems, user authentication, and database management. Most importantly, I gained experience in debugging and troubleshooting real-time applications, and how to handle and maintain a live platform with active users, which taught me valuable lessons about scalability and user experience optimization.

What's next for Froopy Chat

Next, I want to implement AI-powered features and other advanced technologies to make the matching system more robust and intelligent. The key focus will be integrating live chat translation in real-time to reduce the gap between users across the world even more, enabling seamless conversations between people who speak different languages and truly making it a global platform for human connection.
