Inspiration
We were interested in exploring what a “new world” looks like at the moment of its creation, rather than at its end state. Instead of focusing on futures or outcomes, we wanted to visualize beginnings - how complexity, life, and structure might emerge from a single starting condition. The theme encouraged us to think about creation as a process, not an event, and to treat time itself as a design element.
What it does
From Seed is a short cinematic video that depicts the birth and evolution of a fictional planet. The film begins at planetary scale, follows a single seed as it initiates life, expands into prehistoric ecosystems, and then accelerates through modern and speculative future eras. The narrative is communicated entirely through visual progression, motion, and scale, without narration or dialogue.
How we built it
We built the project using PixVerse video generation models running on GMI’s inference workflow platform. Starting from a pre-configured GMI Studio workflow, we focused on prompt design, composition, and motion rather than infrastructure. We used a photo-to-video pipeline to maintain visual continuity across scenes, carefully controlling camera movement and transitions to ensure the evolution of the world felt coherent and intentional.
Challenges we ran into
The primary challenge was maintaining consistency while spanning multiple eras within a very short runtime. Each scene needed to feel distinct while still belonging to the same world. We also had to be deliberate about pacing - compressing large time jumps without making the story feel rushed or visually overwhelming required significant iteration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We like how the video came out!
What we learned
Working with image2video models, working with GMI and how to tell a story.
What's next for From Seed
We want to post this on tiktok/youtube as short form content to see how its received.
