Inspiration

  • A desire to raise awareness to our environment.

Game concept

  • You play as a discarded plastic bag in Greenville. You walk around collecting trash to keep the wild animals and residents happy. However, as time progresses, you begin to notice the sidewalk isn't the same as it used to be. First it starts with a missing bird, then two, then toxic waste and pollution in the air. Although you walk across the same sidewalk, it can no longer recognizable from the past. Green to Gray is about a beautiful town turning into a dystopian wasteland.

What it does

  • Spreads awareness through exciting game play

How we built it

  • Using Godot game engine in GDScript.
  • Reading documentation and examples
  • No AI used

Challenges we ran into

  • Unfamiliarity with engine
  • Incorporating our theme inside the game in an interactive manner
  • Integrating the physics into the player movement, such as gravity

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The beautiful environment (more than 40+ assets)
  • Game concept
  • Learning the engine and language in less than a day
  • Animations
  • Dynamic lighting

What we learned

  • How to use the engine effectively
  • GitHub integration with Godot
  • Communicating our ideas, talking with other teams and how to pull an all-nighter
  • Deleting everything to redo it better (such as lamps, lights and score)

What's next for From Green to Gray

  • Finishing the last levels
  • Start screen and end screen
  • Happiness meter when you collect trash
  • Advertising it
