Inspiration

As a lifelong procrastinator, I’ve always struggled to complete unappealing tasks—like booking appointments or dealing with paperwork. In those moments, I usually open the Notes app on my iPhone and write “To-do,” followed by a list of what I need to get done that day or the next. But those notes inevitably get buried among hundreds of others, often unrelated, and most tasks remain untouched.

Popular to-do apps like Todoist are essentially better-organized versions of that system—but they often come with complex interfaces and don’t truly help you focus on the tasks you’re avoiding. That’s why I set out to build something in between: a simple tool like iPhone Notes, but with a clear structure and one core mission—help you tackle the tasks you don’t want to do.

What it does

Frogz is a simple and intuitive productivity app that lets you create tasks and mark the ones you’re dreading as “frogs.” When you’re ready, you can activate “Frog Mode” and start a focused timer to help you power through those unwanted tasks. Beyond that, the app includes a Calendar view, detailed productivity stats (daily, weekly, and monthly), and the ability to create Projects you can break down into steps—each with its own tasks.

How we built it

I built Frogz using Bolt, with OpenAI to help refine and optimize my prompts. For the backend, I used Supabase, with Bolt’s support to integrate it.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was feature creep—especially when I decided to add a full Projects section mid-way. As a complete no-coder, I also had to learn how to manually tweak parts of the code to bypass token limitations and keep things running smoothly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that the app looks and feels like a real product, with a clean design and functional features—even though I have no background in coding. And I’m especially happy I was able to get a working MVP up and running in under a month.

What we learned

I learned how to better structure and optimize prompts with Bolt, and now have a much clearer understanding of the steps needed to build an app from scratch—even as a non-technical founder.

What's next for Frogz

Frogz is currently a Progressive Web App in its MVP stage. The next step is to test it with users, gather feedback, and—if there’s demand—turn it into a full iOS/Android app and explore monetization.
