Project Story Inspiration
The project was born from my deep nostalgia for classic hip-hop from the 90s - the era of my youth that shaped my musical taste. I wanted to capture that authentic West Coast G-funk vibe, with its slow, confident tempo and swagger of self-assured gangsters who believed they owned the world.
The core concept emerged as a surrealistic vision of invasion - but not just any invasion. I wanted to use this sci-fi premise as a clever pretext for critiquing the current state of affairs on Earth. Why would alien pirates target our planet? Because they see it as troubled, deteriorating, and ripe for conquest. The invasion becomes a mirror reflecting humanity's real problems. Building the Foundation: Lyrics and Narrative
The project began with creating the song itself, starting with the lyrics powered by EasyPeasy.ai. My instructions established the main storyline axis and the framework of the created world - a universe where intergalactic frog pirates view Earth as easy prey.
The narrative structure was crucial: I wanted to gradually introduce the audience to this world, presenting the main characters at a slow pace, then building tension and the inevitability of invasion. The listener should feel like they're slowly being drawn into the world, then emotionally pulled in as if they were crew members ready to jump to Earth. Musical Layer: Crafting the Vibe
The musical layer was created and refined in Suno.ai. Despite the building emotions and tension, I maintained a deliberately slow tempo throughout the track. This was inspired by my vision of confident, vain, "all-powerful" gangsters - the kind who don't need to rush because they know they're in control.
The song structure follows a careful emotional arc:
Introduction: Slow-paced world-building
Character presentation: Meeting our amphibian protagonists
Tension building: The inevitability of invasion becomes clear
Emotional climax: The audience is fully immersed in the pirates' perspective
Visual Development: Character Gallery
Next came creating the character gallery in Leonardo.ai, where I discovered the aesthetically interesting Lucid Origin model. My challenge was to create diverse, engaging characters united by a surrealistic, abstract frog motif while balancing on the edge of realism - I didn't want to alienate viewers with excessive grotesque elements.
The characters needed to be:
Visually striking and memorable
Diverse in appearance and personality
Connected by the amphibian theme
Realistic enough to be relatable
Surreal enough to be otherworldly
After creating the gallery, I selected the leading rapper character who would carry the narrative burden of the entire story. Animation: Bringing Characters to Life
The animations were created primarily using Freepik ( Veo model and Kling 2.5 Turbo) and some on Klingai.com platform (also lip sync). This phase allowed me to explore and understand the strengths and weaknesses of these models, particularly their applications in different choreographic arrangements.
Each model brought unique capabilities:
Different approaches to character movement
Varying strengths in specific types of scenes
Distinct advantages for particular visual styles
Challenges and Learning
Throughout this process, I learned to balance multiple creative and technical elements:
Maintaining narrative coherence across different AI platforms
Preserving the authentic 90s hip-hop aesthetic while incorporating modern AI capabilities
Creating characters that were both fantastical and relatable
Building emotional engagement through gradual world-building
The project represents a fusion of nostalgia and innovation - using cutting-edge AI tools to recreate and reimagine the musical and visual aesthetics that defined a generation, while delivering contemporary social commentary through the lens of surrealistic science fiction.
