Inspiration
Our concept of the game came from many simplistic games and the way they can create a whole world with simple premises. These games included Baba is You Minecraft Garden Story And many more.

What it does
This project is a short Unity isometric environmental puzzle game designed for the Xbox game challenge. The goal is to pass a magical exam administered by the teacher. The player must solve puzzles using structures and objects within the level in order to beat it and move on to the next level.
How we built it
All sprite assets were created in Aseprite. The project was programmed using the Unity game engine. Audio was created using Studio One. Lastly, we planned and managed our project using tools such as Trello and Github.
Challenges we ran into
As game developers, time is of the essence. Having only 36 hours to not only learn isometric properties but to also implement them and have enough time for restful sleep, eating, and other basic needs was the most difficult challenge of this hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to fully complete the game with smooth flow from one level to the next within the 36 hours of development. We were afraid that we may have an unfinished game with no clear ending while the hours were coming to an end, but we pulled through and finished the entire project as best we could. We are also proud for stepping out of our comfort zones and creating a game in a style we had no prior experience with before.
What we learned
We learned many important art and technical properties of isometric games, such as how mathematically adjusting a rectangular tile creates the illusion of isometry, how altering the Z-Axis in an isometric game can create depth between the layers of tiles. Additionally, our artists learned about creating and animating isometric characters, environments and structures.
What's next for Frogge's Magical Exam
In the future, we would love to continue polishing the game and adding additional puzzles and assets.
