Inspiration 🕷️
We were inspired by apps like Uber and Fiverr, which connect people who need help with those who can offer it, and of course, by our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! We wanted to make an app that brings that same spirit of community and kindness into real life, letting anyone be a neighborhood superhero.
What It Does 🤝
Friendly Neighbor is a platform where people can post or accept small local tasks, like carrying groceries, tutoring, or fixing something nearby. It helps build stronger, friendlier communities where helping others out is as easy as sending a message. You can truly become your neighborhood’s own Spider-Man!
How We Built It 💻
We built the app using React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Flutter, and Auth0 for secure logins. We also used AI tools like Replit and Google Gemini to speed up development while still hand-coding some features ourselves. It was a blend of creativity, teamwork, and smart technology.
Challenges ⚙️
AI-generated code didn’t always work as expected, so debugging and rewriting took a while. We also had to manage framework conflicts and make sure authentication ran smoothly. However, through patience and teamwork, we overcame almost every obstacle.
Accomplishments 🏆
We’re proud of how well our team planned and collaborated. We finished a working MVP that included authentication, a user-friendly interface, and a fun design that appeals to both kids and adults. It’s something we’re genuinely proud to show off!
What We Learned 💡
We learned how to use AI as a true teammate—helpful when guided, tricky when left alone. This project taught us teamwork, problem-solving, and how powerful it can be when humans and AI work together.
What’s Next 🚀
Next, we plan to polish the app, fix smaller bugs, and add more features like notifications and community leaderboards. Our goal is to launch it locally so anyone can join in and become a real-life Friendly Neighbor.
