Inspiration: The inspiration came from realizing that environments, not just physical health, are often the unseen cause of anxiety and reduced independence for older adults.

What it does: Friendly Homes is an AI-assisted Home Coaching Tool that uses environmental psychology principles to generate precise, low-cost plans for high-impact psychological adjustments in the home.

How we built it: I am building it by creating a proprietary AI engine trained on object recognition and principles of environmental psychology (e.g., glare, contrast, clutter) to score a room's psychological impact and create actionable interventions.

Challenges we ran into: The main challenge I ran into was translating complex environmental psychology research into simple, actionable, and universally applicable interventions that do not rely on expensive construction or cultural specificity.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of: I am most proud of developing a highly scalable model that focuses on low-cost, high-impact behavioral nudges over expensive equipment, driving faster, more dignified outcomes.

What I learned: I learned that families and care agencies prioritize solutions that reduce cognitive load and restore an older adult's sense of competence and control before resorting to bulky, visible medical equipment.

What's next for Friendly Homes: Next, I will expand the network and integrate further AI capabilities to provide real-time behavioral coaching based on the home adjustments.
