Inspiration
My friend and I really enjoy using discord and we thought it would be interesting to build a discord bot that fits the theme of this hackathon.
What it does
Friendly Bot gives anime recommendations, talks to users, displays a list of its commands, and clears a specified number of messages from the chat.
How we built it
We used the discord library in python and the Replit IDE to code our bot. Then we connected it to a discord server.
Challenges we ran into
We had some challenges when dealing with commands that we haven't coded into our bot yet. However, we overcame it and found a simple solution to our problem.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Since this is our first hackathon we are proud to even compete. However, the part of our project we are proud of is the part where we handled unknown commands because this was our first time trying to add that to a discord bot.
What we learned
We learned a lot more about coding discord bots and how fun hackathons are.
What's next for Friendly Bot
Eventually, we are going to try to code a bot that will have full conversations with the users in the server.
