Inspiration
We were inspired by real life interactions from our own friend group chats and the chaos that ensues when someone attempts to plan a hangout!! Finding when we are all available, getting an idea down (location or budget wise), and keeping track of what we actually finalized, can really be a pain and require a block of 50+ texts.
What it does
We wanted to have a webapp that consolidates all this planning in one place!! On our main page, we can note down what types of activities our friends are interested in, schedule a hangout, and see a preview of our current budget and previous transactions for hangouts! From there, we can navigate to the calendar page, where we can go in and add different availabilities of our friends, as well as schedule prospective hangouts in the calendar itself! We can also navigate to the budget page to add to our budget, and make note of any unplanned hangouts and accordingly deduct those costs from our budget. Our app also contains a button to navigate to the friends page, where currently we have a list of all of our friends.
What's next for FriendLink
For FriendLink's future, we hope to implement multi-user functionality, and also implement a friending users system by building upon the 'Friends" tab. From this, we also wish to be able to send pings to current friends through the "Friends & Activities" section on our main page, so that instead of a note-down functionality, we are automatically informed of different hangouts our friended users are interested in. We also hope to allow for calendars to be imported in order to conveniently find the most optimal time to hang out between friends.
