Inspiration

"As AI becomes more common, people are spending more time interacting with technology and less time connecting with each other. Can you build something that encourages more genuine human interaction?" Ever growing societies are full of people, yet it can still feel hard to make spontaneous, real-world connections. We wanted to build a tool that makes meeting nearby people as easy and safe as possible, with accessibility at its core.

What it does

Friendable is a proximity-based social meetup app that lets people discover others nearby with shared interests, match in real-time and meet up with them.

How we built it

By planning and documenting our ideas with Claude, we used Lovable to realise our vision and create a working product that we were proud of.

Challenges we ran into

We had to learn to break our vision into smaller, incremental steps, and carefully work with knowledge bases in order to bypass limitations of LLM context windows.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how deeply accessibility is woven into every screen, from synced high-contrast and large-text toggles, to wheelchair-accessible venue filtering on the map

What we learned

We learnt how to power our ideas using Lovable, following a iterative development process that taught us how to carefully engineer our prompts to meet our goals.

What's next for Friendable

Given more time, we would like to integrate a robust and fitting backend into our product. Additionally, we could a group meet up feature, where you can connect with multiple similar people at a time.
