Inspiration
We were inspired to create this app as a fun way to connect with people during COVID. Since there is social distancing, you can't really perform one-to-one actions, so we included actions such as hugs that you can send to people and they can send one back to reciprocate in real time.
What it does
Friend Alarm allows users to send a specific type of "tap" to others, and allows reciprocation in real time. Users can set their relations to others, and this will allow for different types of taps to be sent - fistbumps for friends, hugs for best friends, and kisses for your S.O. If the action is not reciprocated, you will just be left on the waiting screen
How we built it
We built it using Android Studio and Java
Challenges we ran into
We first wanted to make an iOS app, but only half the team had iMac computers, so we decided to make an Android app since it would be more accessible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The idea and design of the app
What we learned
App design
What's next for Friend Alarm
Adding more features to the app like more types of taps, maybe some with other emotions so the app can have more use.
