Inspiration

My inspiration for this app was that sometimes I only have a few things in my kitchen and my mom doesn't know what to make.

What it does

It takes all the ingredients you have in your kitchen and suggests 5 recipes that uses only what you have (it assumes you have things like salt, pepper, water, oil, etc). The recipes will meet your dietary restrictions, time restraints, the amount of people the meal is for, the type of cuisine, and if it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

How we built it

I gave prompts to ChatGPT and it gave me ideas and the app plan. I then took the plan and put it into Bolt which made the app, all I did was make a few adjustments.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges I encountered were that it didn't have enough recipes so when I entered ingredients it wouldn't show an recipes. Also it would require me to type in all the ingredients I have including small things that would take forever to write it all. So I had to change it so it would assume you have basic pantry staples. And there would be some optional ingredients that you don't need in order to still make the dish.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An accomplishment that I'm proud of is that it's able to suggest many different recipes from different cultures.

What we learned

I learned how to use Bolt to make apps and how to tell it to change things and understand the code.

What's next for FridgeToFeast

Since it's impractical to have over 100 recipes, by partnering with cooking apps/companies which have the recipes but not my concept because sometimes there are so many recipes, it's overwhelming and also there are so many recipes that have ingredients you don't have. So by partnering with these companies, my app can have even more recipes to choose from and we can both benefit.
