What it Does
We made a fridge which takes in a name of a food and an expiration date, to keep track of what goings in and out of your fridge. It also has preset expiration dates ranging from 7 - 90 days depending on what is being tracked.
Future Implements
If we continued to work on this project we hope to make preset foods that are filterable by types, so it's easier to find foods(that's why we have a preset_foods). The preset foods would also come with a preset expiration date.
Another implementation would be for when the food expires it would have an identifer. So when the current date matches the expired it would automatically tag your food as expired.
We also overall wanted a prettier or nicer interface, but we did not have time to mess around with CSS, so most of the code is just in JavaScript. Also the ability to add and removed food from the user interface instead of from the rest_framework.
What was Learned
From this hackathon and the creation of our fridge, we used django and react which were overall new to us so there was a slight learning curve. We were also not too familiar with Javascript so there was also a new learning curve. Also we got more familiar with using git to work between laptop and sharing with each other. We think that this hackathon has helped us greatly in starting our web development journey.
