Inspiration
As busy college students, it's hard to remember to eat all the time, but it's even harder when you come home looking forward to eating something in your fridge and it has expired. It's also hard to remember the food that is shoved in the back of the fridge, so we decided to create Fridge Food Log to help with that problem!
What it does
The Fridge Food Log allows you to add food to your fridge with an expiration date and have them be sorted in order of soonest expiration date. That way you know what's in your fridge and when it expires.
How we built it
We built the webpage using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and implemented the fridge inventory using a mySQL database.
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot of trouble figuring out how to use GitHub and how to create a workflow where all of us could contribute and see the website without breaking the file. It was also really difficult to implement the database and we were not able to integrate it into the front-end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to create a website and attempt to make a functioning inventory We're also proud that we stuck it out until the very end and submitted a project.
What we learned
We learned how to use HTML, CSS, and Javascript to make a website and were learning how to integrate front-end with a back-end to connect a mySQL database to a website.
What's next for Fridge Food Log
Implementing a better functioning dynamic database that users can add and get information from, improving the UX/UI design, and potentially moving Fridge Food Log to a mobile app.
