Inspiration

I got inspired from myself, I always waste a lot of my time doom scrolling on my phone for recipes using the ingredients I have and often repeat recipes because I don't know what else to make and don't wan't to spend time searching. I built Fridge Chef AI to overcome this problem

What it does

Fridge Chef AI lets you input ingredients, dietary preferences, cuisine preferences, and how much time you have and gives you personalized recipes.

How we built it

I built this web application using React, Javascript, CSS/HTML, google cloud run, Node.js, Express, Google Gemini API

Challenges we ran into

A challenge that I ran into was getting the backend connected to the front end.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

First Hackathon submission, successfully deploying my first independent full stack AI web app using Google Cloud Run, solving a common problem that saves time and works against food waste

What I learned

I learned how to integrate a large language model API into a full stack web application, deploy it, and run it on Google Cloud Run, and manage interactions and data flow between client side and server side.

What's next for Fridge Chef AI

I plan to add a feature to save favorite recipes. I also plan to integrate a camera feature so it can recognize foods and detect ingredients automatically. I also plan to add nutrition and calorie information as well putting health concerns such as allergies, diabetes,etc. to make it even more customizable.
