Inspiration
School is ridiculously busy, and life in general is demanding. It's easy to lose sight of priorities and inevitable to forget something critically important. As busy students, we wanted to build something that we could find use for, and FRIDAY is exactly that.
What it does
Simply put, FRIDAY schedules your school work for you. If you can tell her how long you think something will take you and when it's due, Friday will tell you every day what time and for how long you need to do what each day. You won't need to worry about finishing your assignment on time as long as you stick to her schedule!
How we built it
FRIDAY was built in two parts- the logic driving the scheduling and the GUI. Members of the team worked on the two parts respectively.
Challenges we ran into
The smaller challenges we ran into were saving our calendars once assembled and determining the date at the time of use. The significantly larger challenge (which consumed the vast majority of our time) was integrating our logic to Android Studio.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is incredibly proud of our thoroughness in researching the Canvas API (which sadly we were unable to integrate tonight) and our ability to surmount the vast majority of debacles thrown our way by Android Studio.
What we learned
We learned quite a bit about web interfaces and dates and times as they pertain to java code.
What's next for FRIDAY
We want to continue to optimize FRIDAY for Android, with the long term goals of porting it to iOS as well as integrating functionality with Canvas.
