Frevia
Inspiration
Freelancing has created opportunities for millions of people, but trust remains one of the biggest challenges. Clients worry about paying for unfinished work, while freelancers fear completing projects without getting paid. I wanted to build a platform that solves both problems by making hiring safer, more transparent, and easier for everyone.
What I Built
Frevia is a freelance marketplace that connects clients with verified freelancers. It includes features such as:
- Secure escrow payments
- Job posting and proposal system
- Freelancer profiles
- Client dashboards
- Project and contract management
- Real-time messaging
- Dispute resolution
- Responsive, modern user interface
The goal is to provide everything needed to manage freelance work in one platform.
How I Built It
I built Frevia using modern web technologies:
- Frontend: React, React Router, CSS Modules
- Backend: Node.js and Express
- Database: MYSQL
- Authentication: JWT
- Payments: Stripe (USD) and USDC support
- Version Control: Git and GitHub
The application follows a modular architecture, making it easier to maintain and scale as new features are added.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was designing a workflow that works well for both clients and freelancers. Balancing usability with security required careful planning, especially around contracts, escrow payments, and project management.
Another challenge was creating a clean, responsive interface while keeping the application scalable for future features such as real-time messaging and dispute resolution.
What I Learned
Building Frevia strengthened my understanding of full-stack application development, state management, authentication, API design, and responsive UI development. More importantly, it taught me how to design software around real user problems rather than simply implementing features.
What's Next
My next steps are to implement real-time messaging, expand payment options, improve freelancer verification, introduce AI-powered job matching, and launch the platform for public beta testing.
