FreshKeep is a mobile app that tracks food expiry and tells you what to do with each item, whether to eat it today, freeze it, or compost it instead of just listing the dates they expire. A rule-based intelligence engine is used to evaluate each item across ten branches (opened state, fridge temperature, freezer override, a 24-hour "still looks fine" grace period for past-date items, and category-specific shelf life from USDA FoodKeeper data) and recommends what the user should do with a short reason. Notification would be sent every morning with contextual text rather than flat, like “You haven't opened that yogurt yet — it expires today, have it for breakfast?" etc.

Items added via barcode scan, manual entry, or grocery store sync. When something is about to expire there will be a single button to generate a one-recipe suggestion from an AI we have plus ordinary pantry staples. The current prototype is fully local-first where data stays on the device and so the entire flow demos offline.
