Inspiration

We were inspired by the CEO presentation yesterday about the importance of mentorship and people in tough situations helping each other.

What it does

This app connects formerly incarcerated people to mentors who can help them achieve their career goals. It also contains a job listing of corporations who do not discriminate against them. For jobs where it may be more difficult to get past the stigma, the mentors have resources on how to go about overcoming them.

How we built it

We built the prototype through Figma. We have a snippet of code containing an example of what the profile of a mentor might look like.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a problem in regards to settling on an idea, and how we would go about implementing our ideas.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that after struggling with teamwork and settling an idea, we were able to come together on the last day and make something that we can stand behind.

What we learned

We learned about the importance of the mission the various companies are trying to accomplish. The amount of formerly incarcerated people who are unable to find work after serving their time is alarming.

What's next for Fresh Start

If this application idea is successful, we hope that it will be a platform to connect people with similar life experiences so they can help each other.
