Inspiration

I use to buy homemade and traditional foods from a house in my locality. Since those food did not contain any preservatives or chemicals, I felt good eating those every single time I buy from them. While I was thinking about an idea for this Appathon, suddenly an idea about this struck my mind.

What it does

This app is for people who loved to eat home made good foods, who does not like to consume packaged, processed, carbonated, stored and junk foods. Users of this app can be both customers and sellers(not necessarily both) of home made fresh eatables, be it cooked food, organic vegetables, home grown fruits etc. If the user is a seller, food items can be added to the list which can be purchased by customers. Name of the food, whether its Veg or Non-veg, delivery time etc. can be specified. If the user is a customer, orders can be placed for the available food items in the list. Food item, quantity, food preference comments etc. can be specified.

How I built it

First thing I did was a google search about low-code/no-code platform. Then I watched Quickbase university tutorial videos, YouTube videos, Quickbase documentations etc. until I felt like I know exactly what I am going to do. When I started building the app, I started feeling that things are getting easy, and then i went with the flow. Still, for me there are lot of things yet to be explored in the low-code platform.

Challenges I ran into

This is the first time I am using a low-code/no-code platform, so obviously there were little difficulty in understanding the working, how-to's and building process. I had to spend some quality time in understanding Quickbases usages, especially while working with Quickbase formulas.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Due to my work commitments, I thought I won't be able to take part in this Appathon. So I kept this out of my schedule. But few days before the deadline, I received a mail from Quickbase team stating that even we can create an app within few days. So I decided to take this Appathon and give my best shot. I read somewhere: "You miss 100% of the shot you don't take!". Today, as I am writing this, I can't believe that I have created a simple app using low-code Quickbase platform in just 3 days. Loving it!

What I learned

For years, I have been building apps by learning different technologies and coding. Recently learning the Quickbase platform is one of the best thing I did. Building an app from pre-defined and customizable charts and tables is awesome. I believe low-code platform is going to be a major player of the future and we are around the curve.

What's next for Fresh Foods - Home Cooked Foods

I think I have not even explored half of the possibilities we can achieve using Quickbase. So the more I explore Quickbase, the more functionalities I will be able to add to the app.
