We wanted to build an open-source streaming solution for drones

What it does

Mimics phone heads-up display.

How I built it

We tried C#, React.JS with ASP.Ned, and then C++ to connect our arduino to the Drone's wifi network and act as a server, and then we finally completed our task with a screen capture software.

Challenges I ran into

We crashed our main computer 4 times, generated 1 billion possible passwords for our drone camera, and on multiple occasions overheated our wifi hotspot connecting us to our drone. We had iterated from hacking the drone to programming the drone in java via an android app to the brilliant idea suggested to us 12 hours ago (that we listened to 1 hour ago) of streaming the screen of a phone connected to the drone already, and putting it on a site.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Crashed the computer with ease while brute forcing our drone camera's root password.

What I learned

You can't learn Android app development in 6 hours, and Android studio does not like outdated libraries.

What's next for FreeStream

We plan on integrating a live streaming feature for a faster view of the drone.
